GET BREWING
MEASURE AND GRIND:
Start with a coarse grind (about the size of breadcrumbs) to prevent grounds from passing through the mesh filter. Measure 1 tablespoon of coffee per 120 ml of water.
BOIL AND COOL WATER:
Bring water to a boil, then let it cool slightly, to about 93°C. Using water just off the boil helps extract the best flavours without bitterness.
ADD COFFEE GROUNDS:
Place the coffee grounds in the bottom of the French press.
POUR AND BLOOM:
Pour hot water over the grounds, filling halfway, and stir. Let the coffee "bloom" for 30 seconds to release gases and enhance flavour.
FILL AND STEEP:
Pour in the remaining water, place the lid on top, and let it steep for about 4 minutes. For a stronger brew, you can let it sit a little longer.
PRESS AND POUR:
Slowly press the plunger down, separating the grounds from the coffee. Pour your freshly brewed coffee into a mug, and enjoy!
